Near Hutchinson
Shelf Cloud
Tadd Parris
Well was not planning on chasing for the day, actually we weren't even supposed
to receive rain until Saturday. I saw the storms earlier in SD, but didn't
think they would make it to this area. When I saw the storms near Wilmar I
knew I had to give it a shot, even with the drier and cooler air ahead of it.
Made it to an area just East of Hutchinson, Minnesota where I first caught
glimps of the system. Was a very dark and bad contrast type setup which I
tried to do my best. When the shelf was nearly overhead it had the best
structure with striations all over the place. Overall a very fun and
productive chase close to home.

| Those white patches you
see were actually holes in the clouds which would form then go away quickly. |
Striations really
stacking ahead of me. |

Looking WSW at the southern end of
the shelf above and to the W below. |
